SHAPE UP LOCAL CLASSES

Shape Up Dogs offers a variety of local classes in their state of the art facility. The facility is heated & turfed, has indoor washroom facilities, highly experienced instructors, small class sizes and is located 10 minutes north of St. Albert. 

 

CLASS SCHEDULE:

9am – 10am: Intro to Agility (Jen) 

10:15am – 11:15am: Puppy Class (Jen) 

12pm – 1pm: Puppy Class (Jen) 

 

MONDAY’s (begins March 1st)

1pm – 2pm: Intro to Agility (Jenna) 

2:15pm – 3:15pm: Starters/Advanced Handling (Jenna) 

6:30pm – 7:30pm: Puppy Class (Jenna) 

7:45pm – 8:45pm: Adult Dog Obedience (Jenna)

5:30pm – 6:30pm: Contact & Weave (Jenna) 

6:45pm – 7:45pm: Intro to Agility (Jenna) 

8pm – 9pm: Agility Foundations (Jenna)

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:

 

 

Puppy Class – open to dogs over 8 weeks of age learning to be a good family pet and build the work ethic for training any dog sport in the future. Puppies will work leash walking, stays, mat behaviour, kennel training, recalls and distractions. 
 

Adult Dog Obedience - most of the same skills trained in puppy class but intended for dogs over a year. 

 

Advanced Obedience – open to dogs that have taken either Puppy Class or Adult Dog Obedience. This class is designed for teams that are looking to build on and proof their 'good family pet' skills! Add additional duration and distraction to the behaviours already learned! 

 

Intro to Agility - for dogs looking to be introduced to the sport of agility. No experience required! Dogs will be introduced to the equipment and learn to work for reinforcement. 

 

Agility Foundations – handler focus and flatwork, tunnel and wing/jump understanding and commitment. Essential for teams looking to continue in the sport of agility!

 

Skill Building - backsides, threadles, tight turns, discrimination and other advanced agility behaviours. Must have taken Agility Foundations prior. 

 

Skill Proofing - proof commitment, understanding, & motion on all the different verbal and physical cues. (Must be able to work with two dogs on the floor at a time).

 

Young Dog Sequencing - for dogs just starting to put all the skills together in short but tricky sequence work. No contacts or weaves. 

 

Starters/Advanced Handling – for dogs looking to work their obstacle commitment, handing, timing and precision while adding in more obstacles. 

 

Masters Handling – for dogs competing at a masters level in agility.

 

Masters Skills – skill proofing, short drills and new skill trends at a masters level. 

International Skills – skill proofing, short drills and new skill trends at an international level. 

 

Contact and Weave Class - learn contacts and weaves from the ground up or problem solve any issues!
