Running Contacts 2

Running Contacts 2 is the second level in the three-part running contacts program, building on the foundation introduced in Running Contacts 1.

This course continues the progression toward a fast, confident, and reliable running dogwalk through structured exercises that develop understanding, safety, and commitment on the contact obstacle.

Registration opens March 17th.
Classroom begins April 9th.

About this Class

Running Contacts 2 is the second level in the three-part running contacts program, building on the foundation skills introduced in Running Contacts 1.

In this course we continue developing the skills needed for a fast, confident, and reliable running dogwalk by strengthening flatwork, introducing plank work, and beginning the transition to a low dogwalk.

The focus of this level is helping dogs develop understanding, safety, and commitment while continuing to build speed and independence.

Skills Covered

Exercises in this class include:

  • Progression of mat work and flatwork

  • Plank work to begin developing the running contact behavior

  • Developing strong exit skills

  • Adding directional cues

  • Introduction to a low dogwalk

  • Building safety and awareness on the dogwalk

  • Discrimination games to strengthen obstacle understanding

Requirements

Dogs should:

  • Be at least 12 months old

  • Have completed Running Contacts Level 1 or have equivalent foundation skills

Handlers will need access to:

  • A training plank

  • Occasional access to a low dogwalk

Working Spots

Working students may submit up to 5 minutes of video per week for review. Videos may be submitted as several short clips or one longer training session.

Auditor Spots

Auditors can follow the entire course, watch all lesson material, and ask questions as they work through the exercises.
