Skills 1 is a continuation of Foundations 2, building on verbal skills and directionals while introducing more advanced jump and tunnel challenges.

This course focuses on developing strong agility skills training foundations, helping dogs and handlers improve communication, obstacle understanding, and independence on the agility field.

Dogs will begin applying their foundation behaviors within more challenging situations while continuing to build clarity, confidence, and responsiveness.

Dogs should be a minimum of 10 months old, as the class includes more difficult jumping efforts performed at low jump heights.

Equipment Needed

• 2 jumps

• 1 tunnel

Skills Covered

Throughout the class, teams will work on agility skills training exercises such as:

• Proofing verbal jump and wrap cues

• Adding speed and sequencing to wraps

• Curved tunnel skills

• Backside and inside wraps

• Discrimination exercises

• Building distance and independence

• Layering skills

These exercises help develop stronger agility skills and handling understanding, allowing dogs to perform with greater confidence and clarity in training and competition.

Working Spots

Working students may submit up to 5 minutes of video per week for review. Videos may be submitted as several short clips or one longer training session.

Auditor Spots

Auditors have access to all lesson content and may watch the material while asking questions as they progress through the course.
